Planning a Dubai and Abu Dhabi trip
Dubai and Abu Dhabi complement each other on a first UAE trip. One day brings a small boat across the creek and walks in older neighbourhoods; another lets museums and the waterfront slow things down. Plan around those contrasts rather than only towers and hotel photographs.
If rest by the sea is the aim, do not fill the same day with every major attraction. For a culture trip, factor in daily journeys from a distant beach hotel. One geographical focus a day, with space for meals and free time, makes an easier UAE itinerary.

Entry requirements
Visa and passport rules depend on nationality and document type. Confirm eligibility through official UAE immigration channels and your airline before buying flights.
AED and total prices
The currency is the UAE dirham. Compare hotel and activity totals including taxes and fees; Dubai’s nol card is not a universal Abu Dhabi transport ticket.
Weather and clothing
November to March suits outdoor sightseeing. In summer, favour indoor visits and short evening walks; check clothing requirements before visiting places of worship.
Travelling between cities
Compare buses, taxis and driving door to door for Dubai–Abu Dhabi. Add the time between your hotel, the departure terminal and your final destination.
6–8 days
First UAE trip
Spend four nights in Dubai and two or three in Abu Dhabi. Cover the creek, Downtown and coast before Saadiyat and the Corniche; keep transfer day light.
3–4 days
Museums and architecture
Give Saadiyat’s museums, the Grand Mosque and Qasr Al Watan their own time blocks. Add theme parks only if you have a spare day.
Cities to visit in the UAE
Give Dubai separate days for the creek, Downtown and the coast. In Abu Dhabi, group the Saadiyat museums, Grand Mosque and Corniche by location.
